History, development and Modern times of kiting- Part 1,2,3

1)HISTORY OF KITING.

Kiting is a universal activity. Kites have played different roles all over the globe for thousands of years. The first kite was probably flown in China around a 1,000 BC but no one is exactly sure where the true origin of kiting came from. Kites now are actually well known and over the years they have spread throughout the Far East. Kites have been used for many reasons and by the end of the first millennium kites played dramatic roles like cultural symbols; they have been known to be used as instruments of war, science and technology. There are rumors that say a Chinese man tied a string to his hat in order to prevent it from not flying away but who knows for sure? Kites were said to be invented by the famous Chinese philosophers Mozi and Lu Ban. Paper kites at that time were used as a message for a rescue mission. One of the famous discoverers who used kiting in his experiment to prove that lightning was actually electricity was Benjamin Franklin. As you can see kiting was used everywhere and for many different reasons. These days kites are used mainly for enjoyment.

2)THE DEVELOPMENT OF KITING.
Over the past few decades kiting has managed to develop in many forms, especially the last years of the 19th centuries and the begging of the 20th century were 'the golden age of kite flying'.there have been many uses of kiting during the last quarter of the 19th century, Now kites come in different shapes and sizes and some are even shaped as animals and different type of objects. People have transformed and developed kiting to a whole new level, hang gliding to me seems like a good example of the development in a different way; hang gliding is a very famous sport which is like a delta wing design; to me if you think about it, it seems some what similar to a kite in terms of concept.

3) KITING IN MODERN TIMES.

Kiting today has undergone very few changes through the ages and is mainly used for enjoyment whether its for young kids or adults; kiting nowadays is mostly used by civilians although through out the history of kiting it has been used for many purposes in many fields but the usage was quite limited. people celebrate kiting all over the world today. There are at least one kite festival every week in some part of the world. It is said that each year on the 13th and 14th of October kite fliers in every part of the world would go out and fly a kite to represent ''One sky, one world day'' There are different types of shapes and sizes of kites that are being used today. Over 50 million kites are being sold every year in the U.S alone. I remember flying kites growing up in England where every now and then my next door neighbor Dominic and I used to go out to the park once a week where we would take our kites and fly them the whole day. Recently in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai announced the Dubai International Kite Festival which was held recently on the 18th of January 2013; it was an annual gathering for the kite lovers here in the United Arab Emirates which is continuing to bring cultures together in this country and the rest of the world.
