Tour provides insight into pearl diving.

The Arabian Gulf was one of the largest natural diving economies in the world; early last century there were more than 1000 pearling boats along the trucial coast. Pearl diving was still in play in the U.A.E until the 1950s but faded away as less expensive pearls became commonplace. However in the past centuries old emirates hunt for the black pearl has not disappeared completely. EMEG (Emirates Marine Environment Group) has jointly formed a new pearl diving eco tour in the waters off Palm Jebel Ali.  The proud tradition of pearl diving in the U.A.E may be gone but is certainly not forgotten. The new daily pearl diving tour will attempt to recreate the authentic diving experience through the offering of traditional diving clothes; fish and rice dishes will be cooked aboard for lunch and pearl stories from yesteryear can be enjoyed. guests would have the pleasure of keeping as souvenirs any pearls they find.
